As this is my first time posting here at TheCancerBlog I thought that I’d introduce myself, letting you know who I am and why I’m here. My name is Michelle Dellino, and I’m an Ovarian Cancer Survivor. Cancer came into my life a few years ago. While in my mid 20s, I moved to New York City from the safety of my native Seattle expecting lots of excitement and opportunity. Instead, what I got was cancer, which ironically has turned out to be perhaps the most important opportunity of all. Now I’m a few months away from being in remission for one full year while adjusting to and working on living my life as a survivor.
One of the only things I can say I know with complete certainty about cancer is that I needed the help, advice, resources, and support of other people who had been there or who were fighting, too. That little bit of knowledge makes me want to give back in any way that I can, so I’m here both to share my perspective and to learn from all of you. I’m happy to be joining Dr.Faoro and Catherine in making this a place where cancer patients and survivors, those in the medical community, friends and family members of those living with cancer, and anyone just interested, can get information, resources, and even some opinions. Please feel free to post comments or email me with any feedback, suggestions, questions, or concerns, and most importantly, anything you would like to see us talking about.
