Researchers have called an early halt to two large, federally sponsored clinical studies of the drug Herceptin due to the fact it has proven to be unusually effective at preventing cancer from recurring in women with early stage breast cancer.
Patients who received Herceptin and chemotherapy had a 52 percent decrease in disease recurrence compared to those treated with chemotherapy alone, according to researchers.
I'd like to hear from breast cancer survivors. From your perspective, just how big is this news? I'd also like to hear from clinical professionals sharing your thoughts on the issue. Please leave a comment.
