ABC News anchor Peter Jennings thanked well-wishers Friday in a moving letter that opened a window into his battle with lung cancer. In an e-mail posted on ABCnews.com, Jennings, who's undergoing chemotherapy treatment, said he attempted to go to his ABC office yesterday.
"Yesterday I decided to go to the office. I got as far as the bedroom door. Chemo strikes."
He mentioned that Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa., who was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease, "wrote me a note to say that the only way to get through chemo is to `work your way through it.'"

21. Dear Mr. Jennings,
I don't know if you will read this blog yourself, but I have a strong desire, along with my mother, Stella Lavergne, to pray for and think of you fondly. We both have admired and respected your view on the world's happenings for many years. We do miss your soothing and familiar way of anchoring the news even when the news was of a grave nature or of a joyful one.
May God bless you & your family, comfort and guide you always and speed your journey to recovery, Peter. You are in our family's hearts, minds & prayers always & Healing Hugs & wishes are being sent your way!
