If you eat cranberries,
drink cranberry juice, or take cranberry supplements, you are providing your body with cancer prevention nutrients.
UMass Dartmouth researchers,
during laboratory testing, were able to isolate the chemical compounds in cranberries responsible for the nutritional
cancer protection. These chemical compounds, called proanthocyanidins, PACs, inhibit the growth of human lung, colon
and leukemia cells. While cranberries, which contain the antioxidants quercetin and ursolic acid, were already known to
offer cancer protection, until now, researchers were unable to identify the active chemical compounds in cranberries
responsible for inhibiting cancer cells. So, now, they know the how of why cranberries are good at offering cancer
protection.Note: The contents of this blog are for informational purposes only and should not be construed as medical advice or substitute for professional care. For medical emergencies, dial 911!
