In 2000, Christine Baze, 31, was diagnosed with invasive cervical cancer. A musician
since the age of 4, the music stopped for Baze that day. With surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, Baze fought back
hard, struggling with cancer for her life. When the fight was over, Baze was tired, and unsure of what to do with
tomorrow. She decided to make a difference, based on her experience as a cervical cancer survivor and with her gifts as
a singer, songwriter and musician. She started Popsmear, a non-profit organization to raise cervical cancer awareness and prevention. From Popsmear, the Yellow Umbrella Tour was born, a nationwide music concert tour to reach women about cervical cancer awareness and prevention. Baze music is hauntingly raw, with the artistic ability to fuse the complex into an unbreakable fragility of refinement, converging into a melodic resonance a communication the spirit recognizes as pure and real. Cancer did not stand a chance of winning against the force of Baze. In addition to her work with Popsmear and The Yellow Umbrella Tour, she is currently in the recording studio.
