Coco the Colossal Colon is a 40-foot long, 4-foot tall oversized
model of the human colon designed to raise awareness and provide education about colorectal cancer and other diseases of
the colon. Visitors are invited to crawl through the Colossal Colon to see hemorrhoids, Crohn's disease,
diverticulosis, ulcerative colitis, cancerous and non-cancerous polyps, and various stages of colon cancer. Coco the Colossal Colon is the brainchild of The Colon Club, as part of March's National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. I am an advocate of awareness and education, but in this instance, I am going to have to pass up on the invitation to crawl through a giant colon. It's a personal call on my part, and in no way suggests I think other people might feel the same way I do, or turn down a chance to crawl through a giant colon.
