I still smoke but I really don't want it so I butt it out which is amazing for me as I smoke 2 packs a day. My quit day is Thursday and hopefully I'll be able to do it before then, Yeeeehaw!

22. For those of you without prescription drug coverage check out http://www.pfizerhelpfulanswers.com/ You might be able to get your Chantix at a discount or even free.

I was able to get my first months supply through the clinic I go to on a program called 430b I think. I got it for $80 instead of the normal $117. I'm going to see if I can get signed up for the Pfizer program for next month.

23. I am on Chantix, but I have a question.
Once you have stopped smoking, how are people changing the image of themselves as a smoker? What techniques are you using?

I am on my third week of Chantix. Pretty incredible, considering I've tried EVERYTHING else out there tons of times each. I'm still smoking, but only 1 or 2 a day (not sure why I'm even doing that, except for that "image" thing which I'm asking about.

24. I am 76 years old and began smoking at age 15. I've lost count of the number of times I tried to quit smoking, only to start up again. I've tried cold turkey, the patch, and hypnotherapy. Now I am in my sixth week of Chantix, and doing well. I've not smoked since I started Chantix, and better yet, I seldom even think about cigarettes, let alone smoke one! In 2000 I had femoral bypass surgery in both legs. Recently I had an angiogram that revealed three arterial aneurysms that need to be repaired. One has been taken care of, with two still to be fixed. I consider myself very lucky that at this stage, none of the aneurysms are large enough to be considered life threatening. Needless to say, my vascular surgeon is delighted that I am taking Chantix. I guess the real test will come when I have completed the 12-week course. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, and I must say I feel highly motivated this time around. I'm enjoying not having to get up in the middle of the night to cough. My house no longer reeks of smoke. I breathe without wheezing!! I feel more in control of my life. The very best of luck to all of you who are trying to quit smoking. I hope Chantix works as well for you as it does for me!

25. hey guys, im on my 14th day of Chantix and im doing great! I have about 25 minutes of upset stomach per pill depending on what i eat, but i can live with that. I havent had any depression, and in fact i feel GREAT. Im even more of a morning person than i used to be (which annoys my girlfriend thats gone cold turkey). So i have decided to start a blog to encourage some discussions about Chantix and peoples experiences. I just started it today, but i will be sure to add more entries all the time. Im interested in this "image" that you talk about. Im 28 and all my friends smoke. At work its the only other thing to do besides sit here and write code.

When i quit, i find that some of my work friends dont talk to me as much because they think im trying to be "better than them". Silly isnt it?

I owe all of it to Chantix, it took two weeks of taking it and me getting to two packs a day but I just put them down and didn't want another one after that.

I didn't have to stop doing things I used to do when I smoked liked coffee, computer work, or getting into arguements.

In all, I've been taking Chantix 2 Months and have spent over $200 on it, but like most say, it's the same cost as smokes. Most of you will end up spending that much in a month, so save up your money.

After one month of being on Chantix and saving that money, you'll have enough to do so again.

I get a bit sick to stomach, I have a little upset digestive system as a whole, but I know what the rest of my body has been through. Side effects of Chantix? Think about the side effects of smoking.

Do it, do you really want to have a 50-50 chance lung cancer?

29. I started my 5th week of Chantix today. I've only been completely smoke free for one week though. It took me longer than other people, probably because I live with a smoker, and the ease to find a cigarette butt and have a puff or two was always there.

I don't care that it took me this long. At least it's working now. After trying everything else out there for the past 20 years (hypnotherapy; patches; gum; lozenges; computers), to find something that has helped is a miracle.

I feel better intellectually knowing that I have gone over a week without a puff, and am doing it without nicotine, but am still waiting to feel better physically and spiritually. I guess I still see myself as a "cool" smoker, even though smoking is apparently not "cool" anymore. I'm having trouble visualizing myself as a non-smoker. I'm supposed to visualize myself in situations where I previously smoked, and see myself there as a non-smoker. When I do that, though, I get anxiety. If I picture myself at a party, and I'm not smoking, I get very anxious. Still working on that.

30. i finally fought back the urge to by another pack of cigs. I think chantix definitely helped with that.this is day#1, so we will see how it goes. I'm someone whose tried EVERYTHING!!!you name it...gums, patches,inhalers,loszanges,even zyban. I liked Zyban because it helped with the quit smoking blues, but probably this is a better drug because i still felt some degree of "high" while smoking & taking Zyban, but chantix seems slightly superior b/c I barely experience a high when I was on this drug and smoked. When most of the "high"was taken out of the smoking., it loses its appeal. All i'm left with is watching myself desperately inhale these toxic fumes with no reward of theat nicotine high at the end. ...it basically takes the fun out of smoking. Now I have to try to work on something harder i.e. my emotional dependence on cigarettes. That only my will power (which is usually not very much) and God can help me with.

31. Been using Chantix for 7 days now, and aside from the occasional naseau when I first take it, its been working like I never expected it would. It really seems to take the edge off. I was a pack a day smoker for 15 yrs and in the last week I've smoked 3 cigarettes. Amazing. I highly recomend it for anyone who is ready to quit.

32. I am on day 44 without a cig. Chantix worked for me. I only took it for about a month. I was worried that I hadn't taken it long enough but the discomfort from gas made me want to quit taking it. My pharmacist recommended cutting the dosage but I felt like I didn't want a cig. It took me eight days on Chantix to not want one but since then I have not had one craving. I tried Zyban it worked for a while but made me forget my name. I got addicted to the patch, how stupid is that. I would rather smoke. My Insurance BCBS paid for it. $25.00 copayment.

33. After smoking for 40 years, I'm on day 15 of the pills and now smoke-free for 8 days. Incredibly the cravings have been near zero and at times I wonder if this is too good to be true. All the good things they say happen when you quit are happening to me (slowly) and I don't intend to screw this up by *ever* smoking another cigarette.

No upset tummy for me, just somewhat disturbed sleep and some really wicked dreams. My wife quit a year ago but is now addicted to those nicotine lozenges. She's watching this closely and is amazed how well it's working for me.

Will post again after I'm off the Chantix and would like to hear more from others about how things go when you stop the pills... Luck to all!

34. Just started week 4 today..25 days and no smoking. It certainly is working at this time. Have been sick every time I take the medicine but I feel it is worth it, if I can continue to not smoke. Each day I feel better about myself. I am wondering what the next 8 weeks will bring. I bought some Emetrol for nausea. I take a couple of tbs before taking my pill and it seems to help. The dreams are wild and all night long but not bad dreams. My insurance covered most of the cost for me for which I was thankful however the cost of smoking is much higher. The depresion may come but I think I understand that...everytime I have attempted to stop smoking I feel like I have lost an old friend..In times of stress the cigarette is always there no matter what kind of like a devoted friend and when we give it up and it isn't there we feel lonesome for it.. Sounds silly but this time I am going to tell myself been there done that and hopefully I wont smoke again...Would love to hear coments from people that have been off the drug and still not smoking....

35. My husband and I want to use Chantix to quit smoking, but our insurance will not cover the cost. Is there a free trial or reduce cost coupons that you have to help people like us? Please help. My husband's mom died of cigarette smoking last year and neither my husband or I are feeling well from the cigarettes. 36. What a world we live in. First we smoke which is obviously not good for us then we want to quit smoking and that is not always easy to do. We have some other drugs to help us in our quest to quit smoking. Hiding in all that are the devastating side effects that we don't see.

38. Responce to Judy's comments on 10/1/06. Thank you Judy for your input on Chantix withdrawl symptoms. I am on day 14 with Chantix and doing very well. I was very curious how I would feel when I stopped using Chantix but have not been able to find any information on this subject. I will talk to my doctor about lowering the dosage instead of quiting Chantix cold turkey. I was hoping that using Chantix would not just postpone the withdrawl symtoms. We shall see. At least I am smoke free and feeling confident that I will not smoke again. I wish everyone the best of luck in breaking this insane and deadly addiction. Scott

39. Scott, I took Chantix for approximately 4 weeks. I was cutting the blue pills in half and taking one in the morning only. It took me 9 days to quit smoking without any withdrawls. I have been off Chantix for about 3 weeks and have not had any of my normal withdrawl symptoms. I smoked over a pack a day and live with a heavy smoker. Went out for drinks for the first time Friday night and was worried that being in that environment would test my willpower but I was fine, zero cravings. This was not the case with Zyban or the patch. Good Luck

40. Well, I put out $95.78 for my first month of Chantix. I started with .05 per day, last night I began another .05 to make my total 1 mg per day. I slept well, but am having some wild vivid dreams. I am still smoking, although this is only beginning my 4th day on this medication. Dont' listen to John, I talked to a RN who has smoked for 40 years and she is now smoke free from Chantix's help. Yes, there are some side effects. I have experienced some mild nausea, lightheaded, sleepy, and tired, but feel these will go away with time. When I smoke a cigarette now I get a little nauseated. I don't know if I will go up to the full 2mg, but will see how I do on the 1mg. Please those of you who say you can't afford Chantix, think about it even if it cost an extra $35.00 per month. This is short termed expenses to keep you alive and healthy. I am still trying to quit so all of you pray for me and I will do the same for you too. Good Luck on an Adventure to becoming Smoke FREE!
