Eccentric hotelier and television personality Tim Hadcock-Mackay, who is reported to have been an active fundraiser for Sargent Cancer Care for Children, was found hanged. While the police investigating do not suspect foul play, nothing at this time has been ruled out.According to news reports, Hadcock-Mackay was found in the woodlands behind his lavish 19th century manor Barnby Moor Hall. At the time of his death, Hadcock-Mackay and life partner Torquil Mackenzie-Buist were in talks for a new television show featuring their home to the public called Mayhem At The Manor.
A Discovery Networks spokesperson is quoted as saying, "Everyone is deeply saddened by the news of Mr Hadcock- Mackay's death and our thoughts and prayers go out to his partner and family."
Hotelier Andrew Beale is quoted as saying, "Tim was a larger-than-life person, bubbly, effervescent, passionate. His enthusiasm was contagious and everyone I know who came into contact with him came away smiling. You couldn't help liking him."
Hadcock-Mackay was a popular personality, known to millions of television viewers for his shows Ditch The Day Job and Time To Get Your House In Order. In the last year, he had faced financial difficulties that some believe might have led to suicide. Investigators will be conducting an inquest into his death.
Sargent Cancer Care for Children, founded in the memory of composer Sir Malcolm Sargent for his commitment to children, is a cancer charity that helps children and young adults diagnosed with cancer and their family face the daily challenges of a cancer diagnosis.
