Torisel is a protein inhibitor to be filed for approval for the treatment of cancer. It's an investigational drug that inhibits mTOR, a protein that regulates cell proliferation, cell growth and cell survival.
Wyeth Pharmaceuticals is seeking an indication for Torisel for the treatment of advanced renal cell carcinoma. If approved this drug would be a significant improvement compared with existing therapies. Results from a Phase III clinical trial showed that out of 626 patients, overall survival was increased by 49 percent.
Torisel will be available prior to FDA approval through an Expanded Access Program (EAP). For more information you can call 1-800-234-8243 or go to the website www.clinicaltrials.gov.

1. This does sound promising. Does anyone know how it compares to Nexavar and Sutent?
