1. Three and a half years ago while getting a catscan regarding my prostate cancer,the pictures came back showing a large lipo-mass sarcoma next to my stomach.I already had a biopsy and a psa of sixteen. My Urologist suggested a cancer surgeon and he in turn,after a bunch of other tests wanted to operate soonest. My Doctor agreed,and I was in the OR in a week. He removed my spleen,gall bladder and I'm not sure what else. two weeks after my return home,I started getting radiation treatments for the prostate cancer. forty one,for those who don't know the drill. I seem to be rambling here,all I want to know is, why don't I ever see the the words Lipomass sarcoma? My Doctor makes me feel like an idiot when I ask him.

2. There is no such thing as a lipomass. There is such a thing as a lipoma or a liposarcoma or even a dedifferentiated liposarcoma, pleomorphic sarcoma etc. You should get a copy of your pathology report to see exactly what you have

3. Is it possible that he said "lipomatous sarcoma?" If so you still should get a copy of your pathology report so you can see exactly what you have.

4. I think the more information about possible secondary cancers that RB survivors can get down the track, is better than no information. In Australia, little is being done in terms of researching the types of cancers that might develop following RB. And doctors don't talk about it much, as they believe this will distress their adult patients. But forewarned is forearmed. I didn't know about these types of soft tissue cancers before this article. I have added this to my own knowledge base so that I can be more prepared in the future, as I monitor myself for any secondary cancers.

5. My daughter was diagnosed with retinoblastoma at three and a half months old in 2005. She is now two and a half months old.

Serenity (my daughter) had a re-occurrance last year and it was stopped fast.

After Serenity was first diagnosed, she had a genetic report done on her after a blood test. They stated that after retinoblastoma you have a greater chance of getting secondary tumors in other parts of your body. Most common is bone/lymph, and breast cancer for females.

I did some reasearch on Cromosomes and genetics online and found out that the RB gene is in cromosome 13 and also has a connected strand to cromosome 17. Which entailes the cancers shown above showing up.

Another problem which might happen later on when the children get older is Neropathy. If the child had more than three months of chemotherapy the risk is higher.

My last finding is that children who go through radiation therapy have the highest risk of getting secondary tumors in the brain and skull etc. in the head/neck.
