Ozzy Osbourne terrified by wife Sharon's cancer diagnosis

Rock legend Black Sabbath Ozzy Osbourne spoke about his wife Sharon's colon cancer diagnosis during a recent interview with Hello! magazine, in which he is quoted as saying, "When I found out it was like someone had got a slab of concrete and hit me with a big dose of reality. I thought cancer plus patient equals death. The thought of losing her was more than I could bear."

In 2002, the entire Osbourne family appeared in a MTV reality show The Osbournes. During the taping, Sharon was diagnosed with colon cancer. Rather than cancel the show, she agreed to share the experience of chemotherapy and cancer survivorship with the viewers to help raise awareness for cancer.

Osbourne said that while he is always happy for the professional success his wife enjoys with such shows as the U.K. talent show X Factor and The Sharon Osbourne Show, he misses the time away from her.

Ozzy has designed a limited-edition signature series t-shirt for the Hard Rock Cafe, with profits from the sale of the t-shirts to benefit the Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Program. The cancer charity offers colonoscopies and screenings to people without medical insurance, as well as those with minimal coverage, transportation to chemotherapy for patients and nursing consultation to those in need of assistance with their aftercare.

Now a four-year colon cancer survivor, Sharon's life philosophy is simple: "live everyday to the fullest, and don't save for tomorrow what you can do today." Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne are featured on the cover of the February 2007 issue of Hello! magazine.

NBC's The Office cast video and celebrity jean auction for breast cancer

Today is Lee National Denim Day, the world's largest single-day fundraising campaign for breast cancer, which encourages millions of women and men nationwide to wear their favorite jeans and make a $5 donation to support breast cancer research, education and outreach.

In addition to celebrity spokesperson Pierce Brosnan's campaign efforts, cast members Steve Carell, Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer and B.J. Novak of NBC's The Office have appeared in a Lee National Denim Day public service announcement (PSA) supporting the cause in the usual slant of dark comedy they employ at Dunder-Mifflin each week during the award-winning show. If you missed the PSA, it can be viewed as a YouTube video here.

Celebrities Heidi Klum, Kate Bosworth, Don Cheadle, Brandon Routh, Kerry Washington, Gabrielle Union, Ellen Pompeo, Ginnifer Goodwin, Ben Stiller, Julianne Moore, Richie Sambora, The Fray, Cheyenne Kimball, BJ Novak, Jenna Fischer, Rainn Wilson, and John Krasinski have decorated jean pockets for an auction to benefit Lee National Denim Day in support of Women's Cancer Programs of the Entertainment Industry Foundation. The celebrity designed and autographed denim jeans will be auctioned on Charity Folks. Today is the last day to bid.

Last year, more than 29,000 companies participated in the Lee National Denim Day fundraiser, raising more than $8.6 million dollars. In the last twenty years, the event has raised more than $61 million dollars in support of breast cancer programs.

Flavio Briatore: kidney cancer transforms Formula 1 mogul

Formula One mogul Flavio Briatore is recovering from kidney cancer surgery. Originally announced that he had kidney stones, Briatore revealed in a magazine interview that he had kidney cancer surgery to remove a malignant tumor from his left kidney.

For the ex-boyfriend of Naomi Campbell and Heidi Klum, cancer has made life uncertain as to the direction he will choose to go in next, although Briatore, at 54, has made it clear cancer has transformed his priorities and his life.

Briatore says he must decide if he will continue as Renault's Formula One boss. "I am responsible for 900 people, who count on me. I do not want to let them down. But I also work for my own satisfaction and for results. For me, money will never decide my future."

Briatore is quoted as saying, "Fifteen percent of my existence was superfluous. Now I want to dedicate more time to those who really need it."

Katie Couric: National Colorectal Cancer Research Alliance

In 1998, Katie Couric lost her husband, Jay Monahan, in the prime of his life, to colon cancer. Since then, Couric has been a passionate crusader in raising public awareness about colon cancer and in stressing the vital importance of colon cancer screening for everyone over 40 years of age. "Jay was just 41 when he was diagnosed, and it would have taken a very astute doctor to pick up on it being colorectal cancer early on," says Couric. "He was pretty much asymptomatic. He had no family history. You can be feeling perfectly fine – on top of the world physically – and still have colorectal cancer. One of the many difficult things about this disease is you often have no symptoms. You may not have blood in your stool, or have lost weight or your bowels habits may not have changed. But you could still have the disease."

In 2000, Couric helped co-found the Entertainment Industry Foundation National Colorectal Cancer Research Alliance, EIF's NCCRA, an organization who works to raise public awareness about colon cancer, the importance of screening and in funding cutting-edge research. Celebrities Morgan Freeman, Dennis Quaid and Ray Romano, who appears in a video PSA to help promote awareness for colon cancer and raise funds through the sale of philosophy's laughing gas bathroom spray on QVC, have joined Couric in spreading her colon cancer awareness message intended to save lives, "Please, get tested. This one can be cured."

Other celebrity friends who have helped Couric raise colon cancer awareness and the need for colon cancer screening are: Colin Farrell, Dennis Franz, Heidi Klum, Mandy Moore, Judge Judy Sheindlin, and the "Peanuts" characters on behalf of the late Charles Schultz.
