White House Press Secretary Tony Snow heads for surgery

White House press secretary and colon cancer survivor Tony Snow asks the public to refrain from jumping to conclusions regarding the surgery he will have on Monday to remove a growth from his lower abdomen.

Blood tests and a CAT scan of the growth show no presence of cancer, he reports. But still, he and doctors are proceeding cautiously due to his history.

Snow, a former Fox News radio and television talk show host, was diagnosed with cancer two years ago, when he was a commentator at Fox. Two months after surgery, he returned to the air and then became White House press secretary in April 2006.

Snow's plan is to be back behind the podium a few weeks after surgery, when he has a better idea of what it is he's dealing with.

Kylie Minogue: world exclusive interview with Sky One video

From the moment the news broke that Kylie Minogue had been diagnosed with breast cancer, the world has followed her through treatment and into recovery. While she has been spotted recently at various events, she has never spoken at length about the last year that has transformed her life forever.

In a world exclusive interview with Sky One's Cat Deeley, that aired July 16, Kylie Minogue sat down and shared her experiences as a young woman diagnosed with breast cancer -- the effect it had on her and her family -- losing her hair -- coming to terms with being a breast cancer survivor and the fact that being a breast cancer survivor is still sinking in -- staying positive and believing you can get through it as her advice to other young women who have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer and are undergoing treatment.

Sky One has made available video segments of the interview with Minogue online here.

"I just want to do everything. I honestly don't want to sound soppy or too clichéd, but that's the way it is. It's nice to take a walk and to see friends. I just can't help but see things differently," said Minogue of life as a breast cancer survivor. "I want to thank all the people who really might have thought that what they did was very small, but they all add up and even the smallest thing makes a difference in how you're feeling and your road to recovery.''

Pets: bone cancer in dogs and cats

Having a dog or cat or any other pet diagnosed with cancer is just as hard as having a friend or family member diagnosed. We have to determine the treatments and procedures since they can't speak up. A common cancer in dogs and cats is bone cancer. Osteosarcoma is the most common long bone tumor in dogs and cats. Often it is mistaken for arthritis or pulled muscles or stiffness in its early stages and so is not diagnosed sometimes until drastic measures have to take place. Cats and dogs differ in the way bone cancer matures and how treatment should be administered. Because of the rapid nature of osteosarcoma, treatment should be sought as soon as possible. The only trouble is that the most common sign -- lameness and pain -- usually happens when it is already taken firm hold.
